Canson Infinity Etching Rag II: A Quality Review

This article is sponsored by Canson. I did not receive any money to conduct this test. I carried it out based on a sample received for free.

Canson is a manufacturer with a long French tradition. In my previous article, I shared more about it.

The specimen I received is Canson Infinity Edition Etching Rag II (A4 310 g/m2)

On Miss numérique (FR), this paper is sold for €39.90 for 25 A4 sheets, which is very competitive compared to the brands I usually use (Epson or Ilford).

I think I’ll try it with this picture because the contrast is high between white and black.

Choosing the right paper is only part of the equation — the quality of the original image matters just as much. Understanding the exposure triangle ensures that every file going to the printer has the sharpness and tonal range that fine art paper like Canson can truly reveal. For the serendipity article, I explain how “La connaisseuse” — the image tested here — came to be.

If you’d like to own a print produced with this level of care, all editions in the shop are made by Whitewall laboratory, on fine art substrates personally selected for each image.
